Nest Protect has been redesigned from the inside out. It has a Split-Spectrum Sensor, tests itself automatically and lasts up to a decade. It’s also the first home alarm you can hush from your phone without any extra hardware required. And it tells you what’s wrong and can even alert your phone.
Meet Nest Protect. The smoke alarm other alarms look up to.
Nest Protect has a friendly human voice that gives you an early warning. That way you can handle burning toast before it becomes a burning toaster.
And when one speaks, they all speak. So the alarm in your bedroom can tell you there’s smoke downstairs.
App Silence: Hush alarms with your phone, not your dish towel. If everything’s under control and there’s only a little smoke, quiet down the alarm from the Nest app.
Phone alerts: Everyone in your family can know what’s going on, from anywhere. When something’s wrong, Nest Protect sends everyone an alert in case no one’s home.
No chirps: Tired of getting woken up at 2 a.m. by your smoke alarm? Long before it has to chirp, Nest Protect tells you its batteries are running low with a message on your phone.
Safety Checkup: Test all your alarms with a tap. And once the test is done, you’ll get a full report.
Family Accounts: Everyone in the family can have their own Nest Account. No more sharing a password. You can all use your phone to hush and test alarms. And you’ll all get alerts on your phone if something’s wrong at home.
The foam and particle board in much of today’s furniture make fires burn faster. Technology should keep up. The Split-Spectrum Sensor uses two wavelengths of light to detect smoke from both fast-burning and smoldering fires.
Carbon monoxide is poisonous but you can’t see it or smell it. That’s why Nest Protect has the most accurate type of carbon monoxide sensor available. We also improved our carbon monoxide sensing algorithm. And we’ll keep working to make it better and better because people depend on it.
Tests itself: You’re supposed to test smoke alarms monthly. But 9 out of 10 people don’t. So Nest Protect checks its batteries and sensors over 400 times a day. And it’s the first alarm that uses Sound Check to quietly test its speaker and horn once a month.
Lights your way: If you need a glass of milk in the middle of the night, Nest Protect lights up as you walk underneath it. Pathlight is one of our customers’ favorite features so we made it better and brighter.
Steam is not smoke: Has your alarm ever yelled at you for taking a shower? Nest Protect is the only alarm with Steam Check. It uses custom algorithms and a humidity sensor to look for steam, so you can enjoy a nice, quiet shower.
No one should be woken up by a low-battery chirp at 2 a.m. When you turn off the lights, look for a quick green glow. That’s our Nightly Promise. It means all your Nest Protects have tested themselves, the batteries are good, and there won’t be any chirps. Sweet dreams.
You can set up your Nest Protect in just minutes using your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
And Nest Protect is now even easier to install. But if you need help, we have customer support with real humans to answer your questions.
Ionization alarms use radiation to detect fast-flaming fires. Photoelectric alarms are better at seeing smoldering fires. The Split-Spectrum Sensor looks for both. Instead of radiation, it uses a 450nm wavelength of light to detect the tiny particles created by fast fires. It also uses a second, 880nm infrared wavelength to look for the larger particles created by smoldering fires. It's the first sensor in a home alarm to use two sources of light to get a more accurate picture of the fire.
To reduce false alarms, the Split-Spectrum Sensor is shielded against outside light, etched to protect it against dust, and encased in a stainless steel screen. The screen’s hexagonal pattern is designed to let smoke in and keep bugs and fibers out.
Nest Protect uses its microphone to quietly test the speaker and horn once a month. That way you know there will be an alarm and a voice alert if something goes wrong. To protect your privacy, the microphone only listens while the test runs and the audio is deleted. You can turn Sound Check on or off in the Nest app and schedule when it happens.
The motion and light sensor work together to turn on Pathlight to light your way at night. The light sensor also triggers Nightly Promise, which lets you know if everything’s working when you turn out the lights.
Nest Protect is the first alarm to use both a humidity sensor and an advanced algorithm to cut false alarms from steam by 50%.
If the Nest Protect in your kitchen senses danger, every Nest Protect in your home will speak up to make sure you know where the danger is – even if Wi-Fi goes down. And once you've checked that everything's OK, you can hush them from your phone over Bluetooth LE.
In addition to its voice, Nest Protect uses colors to communicate. And we gave the new Nest Protect a brighter light ring so it’s easier to see in an emergency and better at helping you see things in the dark.
Nightly Promise: Nest Protect constantly monitors its sensors and batteries. A quick green glow when you turn out the lights says everything’s working.
Pathlight: When you walk under Nest Protect at night, it will light your way. You can choose different light levels or turn Pathlight off entirely in the app.
Heads-Up: If there’s only a little smoke, like you’ve just burned toast, it will glow yellow and give you a friendly Heads-Up so you can check on things.
Emergency: When smoke or carbon monoxide reaches dangerous levels, Nest Protect sounds the alarm, pulses red, and tells you where the emergency is.
Not just an alarm. A guide: What To Do in the Nest app teaches your family how to get out of the house safely. It will also pop up on your phone if the alarm goes off. You can even enter an emergency contact so it's right there when you need it.
Know what happened: You’re not always home when there’s an emergency. So Nest Protect remembers what happened and shows you the details in a 10-day Safety History.
It helps you every month: Nest will email you a monthly Home Report. You’ll see a summary of anything that happened and tips to help you stay safe.
